From Florence to Kolkata: How Anjani Agiwal Built Bric Project to Design Spaces That Feel Alive

to Design Spaces That Feel Alive
Every great story begins with curiosity — that spark where passion meets purpose. For Anjani Agiwal, the founder and principal designer of Bric Project, that spark was her lifelong fascination with how spaces can influence the way people feel

Her creative journey took shape in Florence, Italy, where she earned her degree in Interior Architecture Design from the Florence Institute of Design International, validated by the University of Chester, UK. Surrounded by art, architecture, and culture, she learned that true design is more than symmetry and structure — it’s about creating balance between aesthetics, function, and emotion. “Florence made me understand that design isn’t just about what you see,” she reflects. “It’s about what you sense.”

After graduating in 2019, Anjani began working in Florence as a junior designer, gaining firsthand experience in blending European precision with creative storytelling. When the pandemic brought her back home to Kolkata in 2020, she viewed the disruption not as an end, but as a fresh start. What began as a few personal projects gradually evolved into something much larger — and in 2021, Bric Project officially came to life.

Building Bric Project — Turning Emotion into Design

Coming from a family of entrepreneurs spanning four generations, Anjani grew up with the belief that everything meaningful must be built from strong foundations. With Bric Project, she transformed that philosophy into a design practice that goes beyond form and function — one that captures emotion through space.

From small beginnings, her vision grew into a full-fledged luxury interior design and execution firm, now credited with completing over 25 distinctive projects across India, the UK, and Italy. For Anjani, each project is more than a layout — it’s a conversation. “Every space has its own rhythm,” she says. “My role is to listen and bring it to life.”

Her design approach centers on one simple truth: a well-designed space should make you feel something. Whether it’s serenity in a home, confidence in an office, or vibrancy in a hospitality setting, each Bric Project design is crafted to leave a lasting emotional imprint.

Design Philosophy: Crafted with Heart

At its core, Bric Project is built on the idea that design is an expression of identity — just like art or fashion. Every interior is custom-tailored to its user, harmonizing craftsmanship, culture, and modern design into a cohesive whole.

No detail is too small — from the choice of textures to the direction of natural light — everything is considered thoughtfully. “Design doesn’t have to be perfect,” says Anjani. “It just has to feel honest.” This belief has shaped Bric Project’s signature style — sophisticated, warm, and deeply personal.

Global Vision, Indian Soul

With her design roots in Florence and her creative heart in India, Anjani brings a rare duality to her work — global vision blended with Indian soul. Her exposure to European minimalism merges seamlessly with her appreciation for Indian craftsmanship, creating spaces that are timeless, meaningful, and full of life.

Each project reflects that balance — global design principles grounded in local artistry. It’s a blend that allows Bric Project to push creative boundaries while staying connected to its cultural essence.

The Heart Behind Bric Project

Outside her design world, Anjani finds grounding in her family — her three siblings and her ever-supportive parents, who have been her biggest motivators. “My parents taught me that strong foundations make everything — in life and design — stand tall,” she says. That wisdom continues to inspire her every day as she builds spaces that resonate with both beauty and purpose.

For Anjani Agiwal, design is far more than an aesthetic pursuit.
It’s about connection — how a space makes you pause, breathe, and feel
Because for her, a truly beautiful space doesn’t just look good — it feels alive.
